The Completed Nelson Residence Project in Bryan, Texas

In 2018, a hailstorm rolled through Bryan, Texas, causing major damage to Andrew and Shelley Nelson’s home. Andrew called on UNITED ROOFING & SHEETMETAL to manage the re-roof project from start to finish. With a reputation for quality and business stability (40 plus years under the same ownership and management) and an exemplary record of community support, UNITED was a logical choice.

As part of the company’s commitment to customer service, UNITED met with the insurance adjuster multiple times to ensure that the weather damage claim was approved for the appropriate, maximum benefit payment. Once that issue had been addressed successfully, UNITED assisted with selecting shingles and other considerations to optimize the new roof’s appearance and durability. The home is located in an upscale Bryan neighborhood and is a large residence, with a two-story section and flat roof sections that required special attention.

The customer settled on an impact-resistant (I/R) shingle: CertainTeed™ Landmark® in the Colonial Slate color. This shingle has a lifetime limited warranty, which was upgraded to include coverage for wind speeds up to 130 mph. The shingle that was chosen, combined with the enhanced warranty, will reduce the possibility of future hail damage and insurance deductible outlays. The home’s curb appeal has also been improved because of the shingle’s aesthetics.

Additionally, UNITED performed exterior wood repair that had resulted from wear and age, replaced some gutters and downspouts, and replaced all the leaf screens on the gutters. 

The installation was supervised daily on-site by a UNITED representative who ensured that company safety procedures and quality standards were being followed. UNITED, as part of its standard operating procedures, took special care to protect the landscape and pool area and conducted a thorough clean up at the end of the job that included a magnetic sweep of the property.
