In 1999, the Texas A&M Foundation built their new facility on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that exists for the benefit of Texas A&M University. As the primary academic fundraising institution for Texas A&M, the Foundation inspires philanthropy to support this unique American institution and shares in its promise of building a brighter future for Texas A&M University, one relationship at a time.

For the original construction of the prestigious and unique Texas A&M Foundation building at the Jon Hagler Center, UNITED was chosen as the roofing contractor and New York-based Turner Construction Company as the general contractor. Two types of roofing systems were installed at the time.

One was a custom metal roofing system, designed and manufactured by the Overly Manufacturing Company of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, that went over the cornucopia shaped Legacy Hall. The other was a tar and gravel system installed by UNITED on the low-slope portion of the roof.

The metal section of the roof continues to serve the building well, but over time, the low-slope portion needed replacing and UNITED was chosen again as the roofing contractor to handle the project.

UNITED installed a new single-ply roofing system manufactured by Duro-Last® Roofing, Inc. Duro-Last roofs are unique because they are custom-fabricated in the factory to fit the roof specifications precisely. The Duro-Last roofing system is also durable, leak-proof, chemical and fire resistant, resistant to high winds, and virtually maintenance-free. In addition, the white membrane is highly energy-efficient, reflecting up to 87% of the sun’s energy and reducing cooling costs for the building.

The roof installation is backed by Duro-Last’s 20-year No Dollar Limit (NDL) labor and material warranty that covers the membrane as well as the metal edge and flashing components that are part of the roofing system. The metal was manufactured by Duro-Last’s EXCEPTIONAL® Metals division.

“The Texas A&M Foundation building is a prominent landmark on our campus,” said Greg Galliher, Building Manager & Real Estate Administrator, Texas A&M Foundation at the Jon Hagler Center. “For the initial construction back in 1999, we needed a reputable, high-quality roofing contractor to do the work, and we chose UNITED, who did an excellent job for us. When the time came to re-roof, UNITED was the obvious choice. We’re confident that the new Duro-Last system installed by UNITED will serve us well for years into the future.”
